The “Peter” – as it is commonly known – took first place, leaving the second place for Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, while third place was won by IYAC in Newport, USA.

The ‘Peter’ is a reference to sailors from around the world, making this bar a meeting and exchange of messages on their trips. The bar is located near the Marina of Faial, the fourth most visited in the world by inland off the coast, which receives annually about 1,200 boats.

The location of this marina with 300 mooring points, offers shelter from winds from all directions, making it a quasi-mandatory scale for boats that travel between the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.

The competition of the world’s best bar for sailors, which was held for the first time, is an initiative of Wight Vodka, which has already announced his intention of make this initiative every year, with the aim of setting benchmarks for sailors crossing the seas of the planet.

If you’re a sailor or a simple tourist you´ve to visit this bar when you’re on vacation on the beautiful island of Faial.

On the Terceira island, the bullfights in the street is different from the rest of the country, the bull runs through the streets without sand with a rope 80  meters long attached to his neck. In the end of the rope are six men who hold it and stopping the bull when necessary.

This type of bullfight exist unlimited times anywhere on the island, except in the city. They begin in May and end in October. There are the traditional, those that take place every year in the same places (local festivities). Apart from this, there are the occasional bullfights promoted by an individual or group of individuals, living somewhere. Thus, in the same parish,  there are several bullfights a year.

Usually are four bulls in each bullfight and the duration of time for each is half an hour. From second for the third bull, there is an interval of half an hour and bull for bull, fifteen minutes . The bullfights start at 4.00 pm, and ends at sunset.

Most of these bullfights are comic and even ridiculous, but sometimes are transformed into real tragedies. Many have died of injuries acquired in this kind of bullfight.

If you will be in this beautiful island from Azores between May and October, try to see a live bullfight with rope, but be careful.
