As you know, Pope Benedict XVI comes to Portugal. What you probably do not know are the places that the pope will visit and even celebrate mass. Are four days with masses that start in Lisbon, Fatima on May 13 and end in Oporto.
May 11
Benedict XVI has arrival to Portugal via Lisbon for 11 hours. The welcome ceremony will be held at Jeronimos Monastery, followed by a courtesy visit to the President, in Palacio de Belem.
In the late afternoon will take place in Lisbon at a Mass in place yet to be defined, which may be in Terreiro do Paço.
May 12
Benedict XVI has scheduled a meeting with officials of Culture, in Centro Cultural de Belem in Lisbon, followed by a meeting with Prime Minister José Sócrates.
In the afternoon, the Pope goe by helicopter to Fatima, where he will visit the Chapel of Apparitions (Capelinha das aparições). On leaving Lisbon, the helicopter will fly over the Cristo Rei Sanctuary, in Almada.
Already in Fatima, the run will take place with priests, religious, seminarians and deacons in the Church of the Holy Trinity (Santíssima Trindade). Benedict XVI will participate in the recitation of the Rosary and blessing of candles.
May 13
The Pope will preside over the celebrations of May 13. After, a lunch is provided with the bishops of Portugal and the papal entourage.
The meeting with the organizations of the Pastoral Social held in afternoon in the Church of the Holy Trinity. In the evening will be held at Casa de Nossa Senhora do Carmo a meeting with the bishops of Portugal.
May 14
Pope say goodbye to the Casa de Nossa Senhora do Carmo on the morning of 14th, the last day of the visit, moving later to the heliport of the Serra do Pilar, in Vila Nova de Gaia. The arrival at the heliport is planned for 9:30 hours.
The Pope will celebrate a Mass on Avenida dos Aliados, at 10.15 hours.
For the 13:30 is scheduled a dismissal ceremony at the Oporto International Airport at 14 hours, Benedict XVI embarks on Sá Carneiro Airport to Rome.
