The award ceremony of the World Travel Awards (WTA) for Europe was held yesterday for the first time in Portugal and had the backdrop of the Marriott Praia D’el Rey (Óbidos).

Portugal came out of the party with five trophies, three to Lisbon (won the prize for European destination, a destination for city breaks – or urban getaways – cruise and destination), one for the Villa Joya (best boutique resort) and one for the Host Praia d’El Rey (best resort golf & leisure).
