Portugal has great summer festivals. If you are on holiday in Portugal, this is a great opportunity to see major concerts and dance a little. Below are the festivals that Portugal Holidays advises for Summer 2009:

Super Bock Super Rock
This festival is sponsored by the portuguese beer “Super Bock” and is a major rock festival in Lisbon’s and Porto´s music calendar and attracts prominent international bands.
In Porto the festival site is at Bessa XXI stadium Saturday 11th of July and kicking off with Depeche Mode, Nouvelle Vague, Peter Bjorn and John, Motor and Soapbox.
In Lisbon the festival site is at Restelo stadium Saturday 18th of July and kicking off with The Killers, Duffy, Mando Diao, Brandi Carlile, The Walkmen and Bettershell.

Optimus Alive!09
Another major festival in Lisbon, more precisely in Oeiras – Passeio Maritimo de Alges between the Thursday 9th until Saturday 11th of July.
In this festival, you can see big names like Metallica, Slipknot, Machine Head, Lamb of God, among others on Thursday 9th, The Prodigy, Placebo, The Ting Tings, among others on Friday 10th and Dave Matthews Band, The Black Eyed Peas, Chris Cornell and many others on Saturday 11th.

Sudoeste TMN 2009
In August the peaceful and small fishing village of Zambujeira do Mar becomes party central for 4 days (6-9 August 2009). This year the line-up includes Faith No More, Basement Jaxx, Lilly Allen, Róisín Murphy, The Veils, The National, Mariza, Buraka Som Sistema, among other big names.
The daily ticket costs €40 and the 4-day pass €80.

Paredes de Coura receives every year top international rock acts and this year names like Nine Inch Nails, Franz Ferdinand, Peachs, will go up the stage.
